The "Youth Initiative II" project aims to promote healthier lifestyles among youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina by challenging gender stereotypes. It builds upon CARE's efforts to combat interpersonal and gender-based violence, improve gender equality, and address preventive issues related to youth extremism and violence. The project targets youth, particularly boys vulnerable to violence and anti-social behavior, aiming to enhance their skills, knowledge, and attitudes towards gender equality and non-violence, ultimately promoting healthier, non-violent, and gender-equal lifestyles.

An initial evaluation was conducted to understand the views and knowledge of youth, including marginalized groups like Roma and other marginalized youth, parents, teachers, and youth in general, regarding gender-based violence, gender equality, and healthy lifestyles. This was done using a self-administered questionnaire at intervention locations before partners started their interventions, allowing for future comparison.

A total of 1,816 youth were surveyed across 11 cities, with the highest participation in Mostar (358) and the lowest in Brčko (98). The evaluation aimed to inform project implementation and provide recommendations for future work.
