Summary

More than 8 in 10 Singaporeans associate suicide with stigma, and only one in three would help someone sharing personal thoughts of suicide. A national survey, "Save.Me.," conducted by Singapore Management University, found that less than 1 in 10 think the effectiveness of support in Singapore for those facing a crisis is high. The survey revealed that 77% of Singaporeans rate their knowledge about suicide as below average, and 70% believe that talking about suicide may give someone the idea. The majority of respondents believe that suicide can be prevented, with 92% holding this view. The survey's findings highlight the need to address mental health and suicide holistically and accessibly in Singapore.
