AAFP Actions On Resolutions.pdf

Tochi Iroku-Malize, MD was elected to the AAFP board and James Mumford, MD was appointed chairman of Organization & Finance. Resolutions were passed on various topics, including:
- opposing pharmacy chain investors setting national health policy
- addressing institutional racism in the healthcare system
- affirming medical aid in dying as an ethical personal end-of-life decision
- increasing awareness of racism in healthcare
- rejecting the term "assisted suicide" and instead using "medical aid in dying"
- supporting state and federal laws protecting physicians who assist terminally ill patients
- modifying the AMA policy on end-of-life care to recognize medical aid-in-dying as an ethical option
- adopting a position of engaged neutrality toward medical-aid-in-dying
- working with the ABFM to remove voluntary surrender of a license as cause for revoking Board Certification
- increasing continuing medical education credit requirement to a maximum of 50 percent
- supporting the Marijuana Justice Act to expunge marijuana-related offenses
