Summary

Every traumatic experience triggers cognitive functions, which are diminished in people who have experienced trauma, making them more sensitive to PTSD. The study aimed to evaluate selected cognitive functions among domestic violence victims using neurological tests and assess the influence of PTSD and depression symptoms on cognitive functions. The study group consisted of 30 women aged 17-55 who experienced physical and psychological violence. Results showed a significant diminishing of selected cognitive functions, with PTSD and depression symptoms influencing cognitive functions. The increase of PTSD symptoms correlated with depression intensity, and victims required long-term psychiatric treatment.
