Summary

The coronavirus (COVID-19) is a highly contagious virus that spreads easily, and COVID-19 affects individuals in different ways, with common symptoms including fever, dry cough, and fatigue. After being tested for COVID prior to surgery, it's essential to follow prevention instructions, including staying home, washing hands frequently, practicing physical distancing, wearing a mask, and avoiding contact with someone showing COVID-related signs or symptoms. If COVID-related signs or symptoms develop, or if contact is made with someone who has tested positive, the doctor or nurse must be notified immediately. After the screening test, someone will contact you if the test result is positive, and the operating room staff will contact you the day before surgery to go through a validation questionnaire for COVID symptoms and exposure criteria.
