Summary

A prospective follow-up study of 50 patients with intraarticular or unstable lower end radius fractures treated with ligamentotaxis using an external fixator and K-wires showed good to excellent results in 78% of patients, with minimal complications and a short hospital stay of 2.3 days. The average time for surgery was 34.2 minutes, and radial shortening was less than 4 mm. Anatomical assessment was grade I or II in 96% of patients.
