Summary

Our centre is a Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) where people can meet with a Doctor or Nurse if they have been made to do something sexual that they didn’t want to do. The centre has a team of Doctors, Nurses, and Support Workers who are there to look after and ensure the health and safety of those who visit.

When someone visits the centre, they will be met by a friendly Doctor or Nurse and a Support Worker, and they can bring someone with them for support. The Doctor or Nurse will do a medical check and possibly an examination to see if there are any injuries and to collect evidence.

The examination will involve checking for bruises, scratches, and other injuries, and may involve taking samples of bodily fluids or DNA. The Support Worker will be present throughout the examination to provide support and comfort.

After the examination, the Doctor or Nurse will speak with the Police Officer or Social Worker if they are present, and will discuss the results of the examination with the individual. The individual will then be able to go home, and will be given helpful information and support to take with them. Everything that happens at the centre is the individual's choice, and they will be explained everything throughout the process.
