Summary

The study examined the effects of different resistance training protocols on fibrinolytic factors in healthy men. Ten men (mean age 24.7 ± 2.2 years, height 177 ± 7 cm, weight 77.3 ± 7 kg) performed three different resistance training protocols (power, hypertrophy, and power-endurance) in a randomized order, with one week of rest between each protocol. Blood samples were taken before and after each protocol to measure tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA) and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1). The results showed that all three protocols increased t-PA levels (P = 0.007), but did not change PAI-1 levels (P = 0.529). The power-endurance protocol resulted in a greater increase in t-PA levels compared to the other two protocols. The study suggests that resistance training can increase fibrinolytic activity and reduce thrombosis risk, with the power-endurance protocol being the most effective.
