Summary

A case study evaluated the effect of physical therapy during pregnancy on childbirth preparation and labor time. A 20-35 year old primiparous woman with a normoglycemic and normotensive pregnancy participated in the study. She was evaluated for flexibility and pelvic floor muscle strength between the 18th and 36th gestational weeks and underwent an exercise protocol. Although the study aimed to assess the impact of physical therapy on vaginal delivery and pain reduction, the participant required an abdominal delivery due to complications. Post-delivery evaluation showed improved flexibility and maintained pelvic floor muscle strength. The study concludes that more research is needed to understand the role of physical therapy in obstetrics.
