Abstract: This case study introduces machine translation (MT) plus post-editing (PE) to local and regional public health departments in the U.S., aiming to improve accessibility of health information materials for linguistically diverse communities.

Background: The U.S. has a significant linguistic diversity, with 20.8% of the population speaking a language other than English at home. Limited English proficiency (LEP) is linked to adverse health outcomes and challenges in accessing healthcare services. Despite federal mandates, public health departments struggle to provide adequate multilingual resources due to budget constraints and lack of standardized translation practices.

Methodology:
