Summary

Obese adolescents with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) had higher evening melatonin levels than those without OSA, with a 5.3 times higher level in OSA patients. Nighttime melatonin levels were lower in both obese groups compared to the control group. Melatonin levels correlated with body mass index in obese adolescents without OSA and with oxygen desaturation in OSA patients, particularly in those with clinical manifestations.
