Summary

The study analyzed the relationship between parental attitudes and neurotic disorders, including sexuality-related and unrelated symptoms, in 3929 patients. Results showed a significant association between adverse parental attitudes and symptoms, such as reluctance to sexual contacts, erectile dysfunction, and pessimism. The absence of a mother in childhood was associated with a higher risk of disruptions in sexual intercourse. The study concluded that non-optimal parental attitudes are associated with a higher incidence of symptoms, primarily in the field of sexuality, and with other selected symptoms, as well as with higher global symptom level.
