A cross-sectional study of 100 Polish emergency medical system employees validated the Polish version of the Peritraumatic Distress Inventory (PDI), yielding a Cronbach's alpha of 0.77 and a three-factor structure explaining 60.04% of variance. The study rejected the fifth item, resulting in a 12-item scale with subscales for loss of control and arousal, negative emotions, and feeling of threat. The PDI showed strong positive correlations with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms, including intrusion, arousal, and avoidance. The Polish version of the PDI is a relevant and reliable distress assessment tool.
