The vaccine is designed to enhance immunogenicity and provide protection against Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) disease, which can cause bacterial meningitis, sepsis, and other serious infections, particularly in children under 5 years of age. Clinical trials have demonstrated the vaccine's efficacy in preventing Hib disease, with a protective efficacy of 93% in a high-risk population of Native American infants. The vaccine has also been shown to be highly immunogenic in other age groups and populations, inducing antibody levels that correlate with protection against Hib disease.
