The Maternal and Child Survival Program (MCSP) implemented reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health interventions in 10 districts in Rwanda from 2014 to 2018. MCSP worked with the Rwandan Ministry of Health, the Rwanda Biomedical Centre, and the Rwanda Health Communication Center to increase coverage and utilization of high-impact, low-cost interventions. The project enhanced impact through community engagement, scaling up interventions in stages, and supporting the development of a National Community Mobilization Framework. MCSP's community health approach combined service delivery, capacity strengthening, and social and behavior change, aiming to institutionalize and support reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health services. The project supported 4,780 community health workers and reached 516,090 people, contributing to improved management of childhood illness, family planning services, and maternal and newborn health care, as well as increased demand for health services and data use for quality improvement.
