King's Global Health Partnerships (KGHP) works to strengthen health systems in four countries, including Somaliland, through partnerships with King's College London, the UK's National Health Service (NHS), and international partners. The King's Somaliland Partnership (KSP) has been ongoing for 20 years, working with over 150 UK volunteers and the Somaliland Ministry of Health Development to improve higher education for health professions, health service delivery, and evidence-based policy and practice.

The Somaliland Prepared for Practice (PfP) project, supported by the SPHEIR Programme, aimed to improve medical, nursing, and midwifery education from 2016 to 2021. An evaluation of the project found it to be highly relevant to the needs of beneficiaries, demands of partners, and context, with a strong foundation of trust and incremental gains. The project filled critical gaps in the health education system, providing online education and opportunities for students to practice their skills.

However, the evaluation also noted some limitations and missed opportunities, including a lack of alignment between the project's impact statement and scope, and challenges related to internet access, timing of courses, and access to clinical supervisors. Despite these challenges, the project was found to have achieved its intended outcomes, with students reporting increased confidence in their preparedness to practice medicine and nursing.
