Summary

Many people suffer from joint pain due to aging, and some of them endure the pain without undergoing surgery. To address this issue, a specialized outpatient clinic for PRP (Platelet-rich plasma) therapy has been established to treat pain caused by osteoarthritis, muscle, tendon, and ligament injuries. In Japan, approximately 2.53 million people suffer from osteoarthritis of the knee, and until now, treatment options were limited to medication, rehabilitation, and surgery. However, PRP therapy, which uses a patient's own blood to promote healing, has emerged as a new treatment option. This therapy has been recognized by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare as a regenerative medical technology and is expected to provide pain relief with minimal side effects. The clinic offers two types of PRP therapy, APS and PFC-FD, and provides treatment tailored to each patient's needs. While PRP therapy is not a cure-all, it may be a viable option for patients who have not responded to traditional treatments or are hesitant to undergo surgery.
