Summary

In 1950 vond een ongeluk plaats op Værnes. Een Spitfire keerde terug van een routinevlucht en de piloot had problemen. Het vliegtuig landde niet goed en sloeg tegen een aardwal, waardoor het rondtolde en neerstortte bij de wapenafdeling. Later dat jaar, op 30 januari, vond een dodelijk ongeluk plaats met een Oxford-vliegtuig. De piloot, Christian Fürst, en twee soldaten kwamen om het leven toen het vliegtuig tijdens het opstijgen uit de koers raakte en neerstortte. Fürst wist het vliegtuig nog net weg te manoeuvreren van een huis waar veel officieren verbleven, waardoor een nog grotere ramp voorkomen werd.
