Happy New Year! The Anthropology of Childhood and Youth Interest Group (ACYIG) concluded a successful 2016 with significant growth in our field, embracing 2017 as a year for innovation and broader public engagement.

Here’s what’s happening:

Advisory Board:

We welcome two new board members: Christine El Ouardani (California State University – Long Beach) as Conference Co-Convener and Patrick Alexander (Oxford Brookes University) as Communications Coordinator.
The ACYIG business meeting addressed key issues, including AAA restructuring efforts, student outreach initiatives, website enhancements, an "Experts Database," and targeted social media engagement.

Upcoming Events:

Biennial Conference: "Childhoods in Motion: Children, Youth, Migration, and Education" (March 3-5, 2017, Los Angeles). Featuring keynote speaker Lynn Stephen's ethnographic film "Sad Happiness: Cinthya’s Transborder Journey," exploring the rights of mixed-status families. Website & Social Media: Our website (acyig.americananthro.org) continues to be a valuable resource, and we are excited about our new Communications Coordinator, María Barbero (Florida International University), taking over social media duties from Patrick Alexander (Oxford Brookes University).
