Amador County Library Friends Group Minutes: July 19, 2016.pdf

Attendance: JoAnn Chevrette, Jim Powell, Michele Powell, Rick Spenkel (present); Jan Hewitt, Elizabeth Rhein, Bonnie Toy (absent); Laura Einstadter (ex officio). Guests: Helen Bierce and Claire Wait.

Approval of June Minutes: Unanimously accepted.

Key Discussion Points:

Book Donations: Helen Bierce emphasized the need for careful screening of book donations before acceptance.
Little Free Libraries (LFL): Claire Wait is registering Amador County's 10 LFLs with LFL.org, which will list and map them.
Treasurer’s Report: Income $144.99; Outflow $1793.79; Balance $49,945.67. No issues or problems reported by Jim Howard.
Library Director's Report:
Summer Reading Program: Going well with parent satisfaction, but overall participation is down due to reduced library hours and competing summer activities.
New PG Branch Location: Laura Einstadter proposed a property on Hwy 88; rent is $1200/month, with $500 being the maximum affordable amount within the annual budget. Discussion included closing the PG branch in favor of a bookmobile.

New Business:

Book Room Access: Track down and create an accurate list of individuals with keys to the book room.
Pine Grove Branch Relocation: Follow up on proposed new location (see Guest Business).
Board Laptop: Jim Powell proposed purchasing a laptop for board use; Don Meadows offered to research HP’s donation program.

Old Business:

FACL 40th Anniversary: Tabled.
Board Candidates: Patt McHugh expressed interest in joining the board and will attend August meeting.
LFL Registration Funding: Tabled.
Poet Laureate: Recognized that this program is better suited for arts organizations, not libraries.
Major Donor Plaque: Decisions made regarding donor recognition on plaque:
Native Sons will have a single badge listing all locations.
Individual donors' names will be listed but not specific programs.
New badge for Chuck Lowrie.
Secure permission from donors to use their names. Michele Powell to continue project.

Committee Reports:

Annual Concert: Venue confirmed (PG Community Church), artist contract signed.
Book Sale: All set and on target.
Communications: Jim Powell will explore Constant Contact for communication with members.
Membership: No changes since last month; discussion tabled due to Bonnie Toy's absence.
