The Introit is from Ps. 129:3-4, "If thou shalt observe iniquities, O Lord, Lord, who shall endure it? for with thee is propitiation, O God of Israel." The Collect prays to God as "our refuge and our strength, source of all devotion" to hear the Church's prayers and grant what is asked in faith. The Epistle from Phil. 1:6-11 expresses confidence in the Lord Jesus to perfect the good work begun in the faithful and prays for their charity to abound in knowledge and understanding.
