Summary

Come to the table not because you must, but because you may, not because you're strong, but because you're weak, not because of your goodness, but because you need mercy and help. Come because you love the Lord and want to love him more, because he loved you and gave himself for you. Draw near with faith, receive the body and blood of Christ, eat and drink in remembrance that he died for you, and feed on him in your hearts by faith with thanksgiving. Holy Communion is a rich banquet that engages minds, bodies, senses, memories, identity, and hope, looking back to the Last Supper and forward to the great feast in the kingdom of heaven. Jesus invites us to eat and drink, not just to remember, but to share in his life, to abide in him and have eternal life.
