Summary

De E.C.C.O.-richtlijnen voor het beroep van restaurator zijn opgesteld door de European Confederation of Conservator-Restorers' Organisations en aangenomen op 7 maart 2003 in Brussel. De richtlijnen bestaan uit vier hoofdstukken: Algemene principes, Verplichtingen tegenover het cultureel erfgoed, Verplichtingen tegenover de eigenaar of wettige beheerder en Verplichtingen jegens collega's en het beroep. De richtlijnen beschrijven de ethische code voor restauratoren, waaronder respect voor het cultureel erfgoed, de verantwoordelijkheid om het erfgoed te behouden en te restaureren, en de plicht om de eigenaar of beheerder volledig te informeren over de werkzaamheden. Ook wordt benadrukt dat restauratoren moeten streven naar een hoge kwaliteit van hun werk, moeten samenwerken met andere professionals en moeten bijdragen aan de ontwikkeling van het beroep.
