Summary

REVD CRAIG MARSHALL

Dear Friends,

I am sure that most of you will know by now that Jane and I will be leaving St. Mary Bourne and the wider benefice this month. Our final ‘farewell’ service will take place in St. Andrew’s, Hurstbourne Priors at 11.00am on Sunday 15th March. Our departure date from the vicarage will be on Wednesday 18th March when we shall head off to our new ministry in Yorkshire. My new role is to be the Rector of the Lower Wharfedale Benefice, living in the village of Huby, Leeds.

These past five years have been happy years. During this time, we have had the privilege of living and serving alongside you all and the even greater privilege of being present with you during your joys as well as your sorrows. For your friendship and permission to minister to you in whatever way over these past years, we offer sincere thanks.

As you are all aware, living in a community is not just about fulfilling one particular role, it is about participating in its life. Visiting the schools, participating in the pantomimes and social groups and joining in with village events are just a few of the many activities which have helped me and Jane see what a strong, vibrant and welcoming community this is.

In the book of Ecclesiastes in the Old Testament, chapter three tells us that there is ‘a time for everything’. I believe this is our time to move on. As we leave the parishes of Hurstbourne Priors, Longparish, St. Mary Bourne and Woodcott this month, we do so with mixed emotions but please be assured of our continued prayers for the life and future of all the villages in this wonderful part of Hampshire.

Thank you for being such fabulous friends and neighbours.

With every blessing

Craig and Jane
