About InterAction:

Context:
On January 12, 2010, a massive earthquake struck Haiti, causing significant urban disaster. InterAction members responded, receiving over $990 million in private funds from individuals, foundations, and corporations.

- Total Funds Raised: Over $990 million
- Estimated Spending: $400 million for relief activities and $500 million for long-term development efforts
- Fund Usage: Approximately $330 million has been utilized by InterAction members as of the report's cutoff
- Challenges: Land tenure issues, limited government capacity, psychological trauma, rising crime, abject poverty, protection concerns, and overburdened infrastructure

InterAction's Role:
- Led NGO coordination with United Nations, U.S., and Haitian governments
- Established an NGO Coordination Support Office in Port-au-Prince

- Maintained an updated list of responding InterAction members and guide to appropriate giving
