The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy is restoring the historic Hartzell Memorial in Allegheny Commons Park. The monument, erected in 1909, honors Annie Hartzell, a founder of the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society. Restoration work will begin soon, thanks to a $50,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Historical Museum Commission and generous park supporters.

Earth Month Celebration

Phil Gruszka's Retirement
After 20 years of service, Phil Gruszka, Director of Horticulture and Forestry, is retiring. Phil has been an industry leader, working closely with park supporters and the City of Pittsburgh to improve the ecological health of Pittsburgh's greenspaces. A farewell note and gift to the Park Tree Fund can be sent in his honor.

Spring Hat Luncheon
The PNC Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy Spring Hat Luncheon is returning on May 7, after a two-year hiatus. The event, held in historic Highland Park, is the Conservancy's most critical fundraising event, supporting projects in Pittsburgh's regional, community, and neighborhood parks.
