Summary

The nave is about 15ft 3ins wide with a south wall and arcade wall about 2ft 10ins thick. The arcade was formed by cutting pointed arches through the nave north wall, suggesting an early 14th century date. The tower's circular stage has 4ft 2ins thick walls and an internal diameter of 8ft 8ins, with medieval brick putlog holes near the top. The octagonal stage is two stories high, faced with smooth-pointed mixed flints, and has brick angles. The belfry openings are pointed lancets with stone dressings. The south porch has a four-centred brick arch below a square brick hoodmould. The tower's origins are contemporary with the Norman nave, but evidence suggests the circular stage was rebuilt, likely coinciding with the construction of the north aisle in the early 14th century.
