Summary

Maximilian Heidrich studierte an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin Geschichte und Regionalstudien für Asien und Afrika. Nach seinem Bachelorstudium entschied er sich, ein Semester an der Boğaziçi University in Istanbul im Rahmen des Erasmus-Programms zu studieren. Die Stadt Istanbul bietet eine einzigartige Verbindung zwischen Europa und dem Nahen Osten und ist ein Schmelztiegel der Kulturen. Heidrich wohnte in einem Viertel namens Tarlabaşı, das trotz seines Rufs als armes und gefährliches Viertel, sehr aufgeschlossen und freundlich war. Die Lebenshaltungskosten in Istanbul waren niedrig, mit Ausnahme der Miete und des Alkohols. Die Boğaziçi University ist eine der besten Universitäten in der Türkei und bietet eine gute Ausbildung in englischer Sprache. Heidrich belegte vier Kurse und war mit der fachlichen Betreuung und dem International Office sehr zufrieden. Er empfiehlt die Erwerb einer Museumskarte und die Nutzung der öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel. Insgesamt war sein Auslandssemester in Istanbul eine sehr bereichernde Erfahrung.
