## American Legion Urbandale Post 663 Update - March 2023

Key Highlights:

- March Events: Post participated in the Iowa Academic Decathlon awards ceremony on March 4th, honoring high school students' academic achievements.
- Dinner Canceleation and Reschedule: February dinner was canceled due to snow; a new dinner is planned for March 16th with reservations required by March 13th.
- Auxiliary Activities: Auxiliary Unit 663 hosting a dinner on March 16th featuring Mexican cuisine, followed by breakfast on July 28th introducing attendees from Girls State and Boys State. They are also collecting plastic grocery bags to recycle into a bench for Drake University's Girls State site.
- Membership Reminder: Annual dues are due; contact Peg Mullen ([email protected]) with any questions or address updates.
- Buddy Checks: Encourages members to perform buddy checks, reaching out to fellow veterans via phone, text, or email to ensure well-being and needs are met.
- Flag Sales & Puzzle Swap: Post sells new flags (3X5 - $30, 4X6 - $40, 5X8 - $50) and hosts a puzzle swap where members can bring in used jigsaw puzzles for trading or sale with proceeds benefiting the Post.
