Em 2023, o prêmio foi concedido a Jarmo Mäkelä, fundador do Blue Sea Film Festival. O festival foi criado em 1994 e já está em sua 30ª edição. Jarmo Mäkelä é um grande fã de cinema e tem um conhecimento profundo sobre o assunto, tendo contribuído significativamente para o desenvolvimento do festival. O prêmio Kampela é uma pequena escultura de cerâmica criada pela artista raumalainen Kirsi Backman. Além de Jarmo Mäkelä, outros vencedores do prêmio incluem Kaisa Kukkola, Veikko Rantanen, Teemu Kauppi, Jouko Aaltonen, entre outros.
