God saw the intentions of the people and decided to confound their language, causing them to no longer understand each other's speech. This event is known as the Tower of Babel, and it resulted in the scattering of the people across the earth, each speaking a different language.

The reason for God's intervention was to prevent the people from combining their knowledge and resources for destructive purposes. If they had remained united, they would have advanced in scientific and technological knowledge at an alarming rate, potentially leading to the discovery of the atom before the time of Christ.

The existence of multiple languages has hindered global communication and understanding, leading to countless misunderstandings and difficulties in translation. The idea of a universal language has been proposed, but it has not been successfully implemented. The world remains divided by language, with each nation having its own tongue, and the need for a common language remains a pressing issue.
