Summary

Oscar Marcelo Aleman was a jazz guitarist born on February 20, 1909, in Resistencia City, Argentina. His family moved to Buenos Aires in 1915, and he began performing as a dancer and singer with his family's folk troupe. After his parents' death, Aleman lived on the streets in Brazil, where he learned to play the cavaquinho, a four-stringed instrument. He formed the duo Los Lobos with Gaston Bueno Lobo in 1924, playing a mix of fox trots, waltzes, tangos, and Latin tunes. The duo joined Harry Flemming's group in 1928, where Aleman learned to improvise, and later became part of Josephine Baker's revue in 1931, leading the "Baker Boys" at the Casino de Paris. Aleman's career spanned multiple countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Spain, and France, and he became a prominent figure in the jazz scene. He died on October 14, 1980, in Buenos Aires.
