Summary

Yusuf's brothers plot against him, throwing him into a well and telling their father that a wolf ate him. Yusuf is found by a caravan and taken to Egypt, where he is sold into slavery. He grows up to be a handsome and virtuous young man, but is falsely accused of making advances towards his master's wife and is imprisoned. In prison, he interprets the dreams of his fellow prisoners, predicting that one will be released and the other will be executed. The released prisoner forgets about Yusuf, but later remembers him when the king has a dream that no one can interpret. Yusuf is released from prison and interprets the king's dream, predicting seven years of abundance followed by seven years of famine. The king is impressed and makes Yusuf one of his chief advisors.
