Summary

Alfafar nació en el año 28 a.C. con la construcción de la Vía Augusta por el emperador Cayo Octavio Augusto. Los romanos no asentaron poblados en la zona, pero los musulmanes sí lo hicieron en los siglos VIII y IX, construyendo alquerías y rahales. La alquería d'Alfolfar fue una unidad rural importante y se cree que se asentó en la Placeta del Forn. Después de la conquista cristiana, Jaime I donó tierras y casas a los conquistadores, y la alquería d'Alfolfar se fraccionó y se repartió entre ellos. La zona se convirtió en un importante centro agrícola, con cultivos de trigo, viña, olivar, arroz y otros productos. La alquería d'Alfolfar se considera el origen del actual pueblo de Alfafar.
