Summary

Das türkische Suffix –mIš erscheint in alttürkischen Inschriften häufig als Partizip des Präteritums und als Prädikativ, aber nicht als Infinitiv. Es hat keine direkte Negativform -mA-mIš, stattdessen wird es mit –mA-δUK oder durch einen eingeschränkten Infinitivgebrauch negiert. Die Bedeutung von –mIš ist nicht "Aktionen, die durch Hörensagen bekannt sind", sondern vielmehr die Feststellung eines erreichten Zustandes. Im Alttürkischen bezeichnet –d- eine fortschreitende Handlung, während –mIš einen erreichten Zustand konstatiert. Die fehlende Negativform -mA-mIš liegt daran, dass man nicht das Nichtvorhandene konstatieren kann. Das Suffix –mIš ist in modernen Türksprachen weitgehend ausgestorben, aber es hat sich in fremden Sprachen wie Persisch und Nordtadschikisch als Lehnelement erhalten.
