Summary

UEFA introduces a new national team coefficient ranking system to ensure sporting balance and fairness in European Football Championship qualifying and final rounds. The system considers all national A-team matches in UEFA EURO and FIFA World Cup qualifying competitions and final tournaments, excluding friendly matches. Points are awarded for each match, with wins, draws, and goals scored/conceded influencing the coefficient. Bonus points are awarded for matches in qualifying competition play-offs and final tournaments. The system uses a weighting factor, giving more recent results greater consideration, and calculates the overall coefficient by adding up weighted cycle coefficients and dividing by 5. Particular cases, such as new associations and those not qualifying for final tournaments, are addressed with adjusted calculations.
