Summary

Der Prophet Zephanja spricht über das Volk Judah, das widerspenstig und befleckt ist, und das nicht auf Gottes Stimme gehört hat. Gott hat gesehen, dass die Fürsten wie brüllende Löwen und die Richter wie Abendwölfe sind, die nichts für den Morgen übrig lassen. Die Propheten sind Prahler und treulose Männer, und die Priester entweihen das Heiligtum. Trotzdem ist Gott gerecht und tut kein Unrecht. Er wird sein Recht ans Licht stellen und die Ungerechten bestrafen. Das Volk wird jedoch auch eine Chance zur Umkehr haben, und Gott wird ein armes und elendes Volk übrig lassen, das auf seinen Namen vertraut. Schließlich wird Gott sein Volk erlösen und es zu einem Lobe und Namen machen unter allen Völkern der Erde.
