The Wajima-nuri Technical Preservation Society was certified to preserve and pass on the traditional Wajima-nuri lacquerware technique, which has a history dating back to the Muromachi period. To showcase the beauty of Wajima-nuri, the society embarked on a project to create a large-scale globe, "Night Earth," which features a beautiful representation of the Earth at night, with the night scenery of four cities: Tokyo, Beijing, New York, and London. The globe is made up of multiple layers of lacquer and features intricate designs, including a spiral pattern on the horizontal ring and a map of the world on the sphere. The project required great technical skill and attention to detail, and the finished product is a stunning representation of the beauty of Wajima-nuri. The "Night Earth" globe is on display at the Wajima Museum of Urushi Art, which is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and can be accessed by car, bus, or plane.
