The Quezon City Public Library was established in 1948 as a joint venture between the National Library and the Quezon City government, with 4,000 volumes of books and four employees. The library grew and expanded, with the main office moving to various locations, including the old City Hall and the Lion's International Building. In 1982, a new main library building was constructed, and the library continued to expand, with new branch libraries opening and the introduction of new technologies, including internet and multi-media facilities. The library underwent significant changes and renovations during the administration of Mayor Feliciano Belmonte, Jr., including a full renovation of the building in 2003. Today, the Quezon City Public Library is one of the largest and most well-equipped public libraries in Metro Manila, with a wide range of resources and services available to the public.
