Summary

A boy's body, around 8 or 9 years old, was found and taken to Mrs McCallum's house in Glasgow. The boy, John O'Neill, was a chimney sweep's apprentice who worked for Francis Hughes and was last seen with him on the morning of January 23, 1840. When Hughes returned in a panic, they tried to locate O'Neill but couldn't, and after attempting to climb down to him and hearing coughing, they broke a hole in the wall to access the vent where he was trapped.
