Baylor Scott & White Health provides financial assistance to eligible patients based on their financial situation. Patients who receive emergency care or are transferred from another facility may be eligible for financial assistance. For non-emergency care, patients who live in the service area and meet certain income guidelines may be eligible. The discount guidelines are as follows:
- 100% discount for patients with family income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines (FPG)
- 10% of the patient's account balance or total costs for patients with family income above 200% but not exceeding 500% of FPG, if the Baylor Scott & White medical bill exceeds 5% of the patient's annual family income.
Patients must exhaust all other payment methods, third-party funds, and medical assistance programs to be eligible. Applications for financial assistance can be made through various channels, including in-person, phone, internet, or mail. Baylor Scott & White also offers translation services for the Financial Assistance Policy and application in multiple languages. Eligible patients will not be charged more than the amount generally billed to insured patients for emergency or medically necessary care. The service area includes numerous counties in Texas.
