The Hearing Loss Association of New Jersey, Inc. (HLA-NJ) is a nonprofit organization established to support individuals with hearing loss in New Jersey. Its primary goals are:

1. Self-identification and education for people with hearing loss, their families, and friends.
2. Fostering public and private programs to address hearing loss issues.
3. Open communication and understanding among all stakeholders.
4. Serving as an extension of the national Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) to promote awareness and address issues concerning people with hearing loss.

HLA-NJ's functions include:

- Coordinating educational activities and workshops.
- Increasing HLAA membership in New Jersey.
- Networking among people with hearing loss and organizing state meetings.
- Assisting HLAA chapters and groups.
- Representing HLA-NJ on official state bodies related to hearing loss.
- Supporting public policies and promoting the welfare of hard of hearing people.

Membership in HLA-NJ is open to all New Jersey residents who are members in good standing of HLAA. Dues are not required for HLA-NJ membership. The Board of Trustees, consisting of at least 11 and no more than 16 members, governs HLA-NJ between annual meetings. The Board is responsible for managing the organization's affairs, promoting its purposes, and preparing the budget. The officers of HLA-NJ are President, Vice-President, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer, and State Chapter Coordinator.
