However, a 2015 study found only 25% of second offenders had IIDs ordered as a condition of bond, and 25% of cases were non-compliant when IIDs were required by statute as a condition of probation. To better understand IID utilization, researchers interviewed prosecutors, judges, and probation officers in Montgomery and Collin counties, aiming to identify barriers to implementation and assess the effectiveness of IIDs as a treatment option to reduce recidivism.
