Summary

The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers agreed to establish interdivisional pool freight service between Los Angeles, Barstow, and San Diego, California, with Los Angeles as the home terminal and Barstow and San Diego as away-from-home terminals. Engineers will work first-in, first-out, protect ID runs, and not be used in turnaround service, except as otherwise provided. They will lay off at the home terminal, except in emergencies, and will be paid continuous time for all time held after 16 hours from the previous duty. The agreement also covers trading trains, formal investigations, meals en route, basis of pay, providing relief for Hours of Service Law crews, protecting other than ID service, vacations, moving/real estate, and protection.
