Summary

The Medicines Patent Pool (MPP) and the Global Health Innovative Technology Fund (GHIT) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on increasing access to life-saving medical technologies in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The MoU aims to facilitate affordable access to medical technologies through voluntary licensing and technology transfer, and to establish a working relationship to share knowledge and perspectives on access-oriented licensing. The collaboration will focus on supporting GHIT's Global Access Policy and MPP's commitment to working with funders to include LMIC access terms in licensing and funding agreements. The MoU does not commit either party to financial or human resource obligations and will be in effect for five years, with the option to modify or renew by mutual written consent.
