The Tribunal found that the employer did not act fairly and reasonably, as the decision to make the employee redundant was made before consultation, no suitable alternatives were considered, and the selection criteria were not fairly applied. The Tribunal concluded that the employee was unfairly selected for redundancy and the employer contravened the Unfair Dismissals Act 1977.
