William F. Harvey is the Dean Emeritus and Carl M. Gray Emeritus Professor of Law at Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis, where he taught law for 40 years. He has written 25 volumes on Indiana Civil Procedure and Evidence and over 400 columns for the Journal of the Indiana State Bar Association. Harvey has made national public appearances on TV and radio programs, including William F. Buckley's Firing Line and NBC's Today show. He has received numerous awards and recognition, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Indianapolis Legal Aid Society and the Judge David W. Peck Medal for outstanding contributions to the law and the legal profession. Harvey has also been appointed to various positions, including member of the Advisory Committee on Accreditation to the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Board of Directors of the Legal Services Corporation. He was admitted to practice in several states and federal courts and served in the United States Navy, commanding an Essex Class Aircraft Carrier. Harvey was born on October 20, 1932, in Eldon, Missouri, and is married with two children and six grandchildren. He received his J.D. and LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center.
