Hannah Murgatroyd is a British artist born in 1976 in Dartmoor, living in Bath and working in Bristol. She has a Postgraduate Drawing Year from the Royal Drawing School, an MA in Communication Art & Design from the Royal College of Art, and a BA in Illustration from the University of Brighton. Murgatroyd's practice combines painting and drawing to express social community, femininity, and desire, with a unique cast of characters and landscapes. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group shows, including the Royal College of Art, Exeter Phoenix, and von Goetz, and she has received awards such as the Jerwood Drawing Prize and the Exeter Contemporary Open. Murgatroyd has also participated in residencies, including the von Goetz Frieze Week Residency and the Moritz-Heyman Residency, and has been featured in publications like The Anomie Review of Contemporary British Painting and Arty 39: Oh You Pretty Things.
