2019 Merlot Haworth from Rutherford AVA, Napa Valley, was released in February 2023. Only 5 barrels were produced, made from 100% Merlot grapes sourced from the Walther River Block Vineyard. The wine was aged for 22 months in 100% French oak, with 50% being new.

The 2019 vintage experienced a cool spring with late rains, but a warm summer allowed for even ripening. The Walther River Block vineyard, located below Lake Hennessey, has a unique soil composition due to its history as a dry riverbed and erosion from the hillside above. This results in a full-bodied fruit expression and a densely layered palate.

The wine features bright fruit expression, with aromas of bing cherry, ripe plum, violet, baking spices, and delicate herbals. The palate is rich and round, with fine acidity and elegant tannins, leading to a long, buoyant finish. It is recommended to age for 7-10 years for peak expression, but can be enjoyed young due to its generosity and lack of tension.
