Series CU free-mounting cylinders now feature an air cushion mechanism, available in ø20, ø25, and ø32 sizes. The air cushion mechanism reduces impact noise and improves repeatability, with minimal extension to overall length (+1.5 to 7mm) and height (+0 to 2mm). The unique air cushion construction eliminates the need for a cushion ring, allowing for a more compact profile. The cylinder's operating principle involves air exhaustion through ports A and A' during piston retraction, creating a cushion chamber and achieving an air cushion effect. The Series CU with air cushion offers improved allowable kinetic energy absorption, approximately 2.4 times that of the old Series CU with rubber bumper. Mounting dimensions remain the same as the rubber bumper type, and the cylinder can accommodate three types of mounting orientations. The air cushion type cylinder is less affected by pressure fluctuations, resulting in a stable and smooth stroke, and noise reduction of more than 11dB is possible compared to the Series CU20 with rubber bumper.
